I’m not sure about you, but I know during the winter I like to spend more time watching movies and specials. Whether at home or in the theatre, watching movies is a nice way to escape the cold. Even more so, I appreciate a good laugh. In this post, we are sharing movies/specials that we think will make you laugh.
These are both older and newer movies/specials that we think you should check out.
Bridesmaids
This movie is probably my top go-to movie if I need a good laugh. This movie is about two best friends, a bunch of misfit bridesmaids and the process of planning a wedding. There is a lot of relatability in this movie, the humour is raw and the acting is top-notch. You can find it to stream on Crave or Amazon Prime. If you don’t have those, you can rent it on all available streaming rentals services.
Mean Girls
Similar to Bridesmaids, this is a movie I often watch when needing a good laugh. Whether it’s for the nostalgia, or for the great one-liners, I find a certain comfort in watching this movie. Mean Girls is about a new student to the school and navigating the social experiences of being in high school. Luckily for you, this is available to stream on Netflix, Crave or Amazon Prime and available to rent on all streaming rentals services.
The First Wives Club
An oldie but a goodie, The First Wives Club is full of phenomenal actors, and a great story line. Three first wives and old friends band together to seek revenge on their husbands, whom they helped become successful. I mean, who hasn’t tried to reenact the “You Don’t Own Me” scene. You can find this classic on Amazon Prime, Hoopla, and available to rent on all streaming rental services.
Ilana Glazer: The Planet Is Burning
If you know me personally, you would know that I’m a huge fan of Ilana Glazer and her humour. This special is a candid, real take on the state of the world today and I highly recommend it. You can stream The Planet is Burning exclusively on Amazon Prime.
Two Dope Queens
Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams created a series of specials of their podcast with the support of HBO. Each episode in the series highlights banter between Phoebe and Jessica, followed by stand-up and interviews with guests. You can stream this on Crave.
