Amidst the haunting void left by my dad’s disappearance, I navigated the labyrinth of life, defying the weight of his parental absence, as I forged ahead in the pursuit of a future defined by my defiant strength and unshakeable resilience.

The Vanishing

Encircled by the serenity of a tranquil lake in my neighborhood forest, my heart was beset with worry. I had received distressing news earlier that day – my father, who had been battling with mental issues for years, was missing. Thoughts raced through my mind, and I couldn’t shake that feeling of helplessness.

That daunting feeling of my dad never coming home swept over me. How could he have vanished without a trace? Why didn’t anyone see him where he occasionally hung out on the bustling streets of Georgetown? I became more disillusioned as time went on. Could this be my dad’s demise? I was sickened to the pit of my stomach. My vivid recollection of my father’s distraught state during our last call was very unsettling. Did he lose his memory because of his mental agony?

In the face of his heart-wrenching disappearance, I found myself thrust into a world where resilience became my steadfast companion, guiding me through the darkest nights and empowering me to embrace the flickering light of hope as I navigated the labyrinth of life with defiant strength and an unyielding spirit. Thankfully, I also found solace in the untouched wilderness around me.

As I ventured deeper into the forest, I stumbled upon a hidden clearing. In the heart of the clearing, I found myself drawn towards a small, weathered bench. I sat down, my heart racing with anticipation. Closing my eyes, I focused on my father’s deep voice and summoned memories of his laughter. And at that moment, amidst the stillness of the forest, I thought I heard it – a faint whisper carried on the wind as if my father’s deep voice was calling out to me. “Hey, Saskie!”

Tears streamed down my face as I felt a mix of relief and sorrow. I knew my journey wasn’t over and that finding my father would need strength, resilience, and the support of others. But sitting in that sacred space, I felt a glimmer of hope and made a silent promise to myself not to give up on finding him.

For decades, I had refused to accept the extent of my dad’s mental issues due to fear of stigmatization until that Sunday when I had to face the reality. He had called me frantically that day, complaining about his neighbors trying to steal his identity. I struggled to make sense of it all. I pleaded with him to tell me what help he needed to overcome his struggles. Imagine not being able to resolve your parent’s pain. Even though that feeling of helplessness was painful, I can’t conceptualize the distress my father was enduring.

A Desperate Quest

That Sunday phone call was the last time I spoke with my dad years ago. I kept his voicemail, which led to our call for years until it became unbearable. That call ushered in a long, desperate quest for answers about my dad’s location. I reached out to his family and friends. No one knew exactly his whereabouts.

My desperation intensified, pushing me to seek the help of private investigators. I clung to the belief that these professionals would uncover the truth and bring my father back alive. I felt somehow that despite having several ailments, my father would make it through. After all, he had always bounced back with amazing managerial opportunities. Why wouldn’t he be alive?

The Elusive Answers

Despite the private investigators’ best efforts, the trail leading to my father vanished into thin air. Every lead I followed led to dead ends, and frustration clawed at my resolve. Eventually, I accepted that my father would never be discovered. The weight of unanswered questions threatened to consume me, but I knew I had to find a way to continue living my life and fulfill my destiny.

A New Direction

As I grappled with my father’s absence, I found solace in my chemical engineering career. The intricacies of my work became a refuge. Despite the void looming in my heart, my determination to succeed in life grew stronger. I needed to be the one to accomplish what my dad couldn’t, even though he had immense talent.

But deep within me, a new calling began to emerge. I realized that my journey of resilience and strength could inspire others facing similar hardships. I made the courageous decision to transition from my successful engineering career to become a Trauma and Resilience Life Coach, using my experiences to empower and uplift those who yearned for guidance. My empathy and understanding enabled me to guide others toward embracing their strength, even in the face of unanswered questions.

Embracing the Unanswered

On my journey, my father’s disappearance haunted me. Years passed, and the answers remained elusive. Amidst the pain, I found solace in the unanswered questions. Closure eluded me, but I made peace with this reality.

His absence transformed me, with resilience, authenticity, and fulfillment as my guiding forces. Embracing my true self, I pursued my passions and found fulfillment. The support from loved ones and the healing power of nature brought solace. Through my pain, I discovered a purpose – advocating for trauma victims and becoming a beacon of hope.

My story is a testament to the unwavering strength of the human spirit, a reminder of our resilience. Let the echoes of “Resilient Authentic Fulfillment” reverberate within us, reminding us of the shared understanding and boundless possibilities on life’s extraordinary journey.
