Describe the situation where you had to be resilient:

In my pursuit of having another child, I was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer and was told the chances of me having another child were very slim.

Tammie’s Story:

When I was presented with the news, I was devastated. I first went to a fertility specialist to have tests conducted to check out my reproductive system to see if I was still in good shape to have more children.

They found several things that were a block but the biggest was the tumor on my uterus that they removed and then identified it be cancerous and it had spread. I had to stop treatment with the fertility specialist so I could get treated for cancer.

I was feeling scared and hopeless; diagnosed with stage 1 uterine cancer at the age of 37. I advocated for hormonal therapy along with losing weight and receiving a DNC every 3 months to scrape the lining of my uterus.

All I was focused on was getting my body back to a healthy state so that I could have another child. Coping for me was being as proactive as possible.

April 2018 I was cancer-free! Fast forward, I am 8 months pregnant having my second son August 2020. I’m 40 and my boys will be 20 years a part.

How did you practice resilience when faced with this challenge?

I practiced resilience by remaining faithful and doing everything in my power to get healthy again.

Please share one piece of advice for people who are going through a similar challenge

Staying prayed up, keep positive energy around, speak and do the things necessary in order to manifest your dreams and doctor’s words aren’t final.
