If you didn’t know, it is still winter for all of Canada. This means that the days are still short, the nights are still long, and depending on where you are, perhaps it’s cold and snowy. Nothing brightens my day quite like a funny or heartwarming animal Instagram account. I actually subscribe to the Buzzfeed Cat newsletter so I get my weekly dose of cat content. This article highlights different animal social media accounts that make me smile and giggle.
Cinderblock
Cinderblock became famous a few months ago after a video was shared on Reddit of Cinderblock beginning her weight loss journey. In this video, Cinderblock is seen meowing as she moves one paw reluctantly. I was in awe by this, and probably go back to watch this video every couple of weeks.
Knuckles the Corgi
Knuckles is probably my favourite corgi on the internet, and not just because he lives in my building. Knuckles’ derpy smile and love of snow helps remind me that winter is not all bad.
Smoothie the Cat
Smoothie’s been an Instagram celebrity for a while. I would argue that she is actually one of the most beautiful cats I’ve seen. Check out to see how talented she is in this video.
Save Our Scruff
This account isn’t just about one dog. Save Our Scruff is a GTA based dog rescue organization. This Instagram account often features dogs that are in need of fostering and adopting, and often, these dogs don’t last long before they find their furrever homes. I mean, check out one of their beauties, Yoshi.
Cats of Instagram
With eleven million followers, the Cats of Instagram account is arguably one of the most popular cat accounts. Acting as an aggregate, this account often features user-submitted content. Lucky for us, that means we get to see new cats daily.
Bonus:
Molly the Mooo
This is probably my favourite pet account, and that’s likely because it’s mine. Molly is a cat with a beard and a docile personality. She’s even been known to take a selfie.
