During the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it can be hard to find a moment to yourself. Often, this is the time where we need to slow-down the most and be in the moment.  Taking time for yourself is important, not only for you but also for those who you care about. This post showcases different apps that help us be in the moment and make space for ourselves. These are apps that either get us to slow down, do something for ourselves or be reflective.

Calm

A meditation based app, Calm appeals to a variety of people, offering guided and unguided meditations, a breathing timer and sleep stories to help support those who struggle with sleep. There is a free version as well as a premium version, which we think is definitely worth it.

Insight Timer

Another meditation app, there are a lot of free perks available with Insight Timer. This app actually claims to have the largest free library, and we agree based on our own research. That being said, you can also pay for a membership and get access to different courses and teachings.

Audible

Sometimes finding time to sit and read can be difficult, and sometimes it can be nice to have an alternative while enjoying the books you love. Audible is a subscription-based and credit-based service to purchase audiobooks. We love listening to audiobooks, especially when they’re read by the author. We enjoy them on walks, drives and when cleaning the house.

Libby

A library-based app, connecting your library account to Libby allows readers access to e-book and audiobooks from your local library. Similar to Audible, Libby has its own player, so you can listen within the app. What we like is the seamless transition from device to device, so you can begin on your smartphone, and pick up where you left off on your tablet.

Duolingo

Ever wish you stayed in your language classes in school? You can revisit those languages, or others and expand your knowledge base via the Duolingo app. Like other apps, there is a free and premium offering. We love that you can reach different levels, and how it is like you are competing with yourself. Right now, I’m learning and improving my Spanish skills.

What other apps are you using? Leave a comment and let us know.
