I Am Resilient: Perspective

Describe the situation where you had to be resilient:

Resilience is about perspective. You can focus on the challenge (and not on finding solutions) but this outcome will be a challenge that evolves into a barrier. Life is not about winning, it is about finding solutions.

Advice:

Coping successfully is about searching for solutions, not solutions where one wins but solutions that move on past the challenges we encounter…that, that is winning.

There is always a degree of fear that is evident in any challenge. It is about being steadfast and committed and not compromising of principles first and foremost, always being anchored by best intentions, and avoiding being self-preserving over doing the right thing.

A lot of formidable challenges are those that are attached to loss. One must always inquire of one’s self, holding dearly on what one knows and what one has presently that is limiting one to move forward into a new era of one’s life. The unknown? The unknown of what could happen, the consequences are at the root of most fears.

Being purpose driven has served in good stead, placed in the strongest of positions to combat the fear of the unknown. First and foremost, know thy self and be willing to find a fresh start from a new footing.

In the end, when big challenges confront us, it is about being solution based. Don’t worry the problem or the challenge, the solution will be there. Focus on looking for solution. It is what you see or don’t see that is the limiting factor and success is finding a solution, maybe not the desired outcome but an outcome nevertheless that moves you past the challenge)

How did you practice resilience when faced with this challenge?

Resilience is seated in a state of mind of always being solution based and not so much a fixed outcome. It is about how we navigate life and a situation, not about victory. Victory is a foolish and dangerous word.

Please share one piece of advice for people who are going through a similar challenge

Be solution-focused. Once the problem has been recognized, focus on solutions only. The problem will always be sitting where it is.
